Who We AreThe Gertz Nerds are a group of students that participate as Student Technology Leaders at Gertz Ressler High School. As technology leaders at Gertz Ressler High School our main priority is to focus on the the technological needs that both students and teachers require in everyday use. By using programs that we have learned through out the year we are able to create new learning experiences for many to enjoy. With three different grade levels of technology leaders we are able to help others in variety amount of classes that are present at Gertz Ressler High School. Knowing technology is one thing in our group. Being able to find methods on how to use the technology for good is one of our main focuses for the program that we have.
Our Mission |
Our HistoryThis is currently the third year of having this program at Gertz Ressler High School. Back in 2013 the Student Technology Leaders had a vision on advancing the school with their technological needs. In the 1st semester alone we were able to contribute to the school by co hosting the National Security Awareness with McAfee and Nev Schulman from the hit MTV show Catfish. As the months went by we were able to host a variety of events from Gertz Ressler such as Biology, History and College Fairs. In the second year we were able to create guides for the upcoming iPad deployment in which the iPads were going to be sent home in the upcoming months. By focusing on the guides the school was able to enter the iPad deployment with ease with the help of our IT department. With the help of Khan Academy we were able to learn the basics of coding in which we were able to learn Java and HTML and were able to recite a grant for our work. Our first video newscast was also able to be made last year which was our way to show the news in the school.
